KashiTirthPuja ("we", "our", or "us") operates kashitirthpuja.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information when you use our website or book a Vedic puja or darshan service through us. By using our services, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly when you:

  • Submit a booking request (name, phone number, email address, Gotra, Sankalpa text, preferred puja date)
  • Create an account (name, email, password or Google OAuth token)
  • Send us a message via the contact form or WhatsApp
  • Subscribe to our newsletter or updates

We also collect certain data automatically:

  • IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring URL (server logs)
  • Currency preference stored as a cookie (ktp_currency) for 90 days
  • WordPress session cookies for logged-in users

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To process and confirm your puja or darshan booking
  • To contact you via phone or WhatsApp to confirm Muhurta and puja details
  • To send a booking confirmation email and Razorpay payment link
  • To generate GST-compliant invoices as required by Indian law
  • To share your Sankalpa details (name and Gotra) with the performing Pandit — this is essential for the ritual to be performed in your name
  • To improve our website and services through aggregated, anonymised analytics
  • To respond to your enquiries and provide customer support

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes.

3. Data Shared With Third Parties

We share data only where necessary:

  • Razorpay — payment processing. Your card or UPI details go directly to Razorpay and are never stored on our servers. Razorpay's privacy policy applies to payment data.
  • Performing Pandits — your name, Gotra, and Sankalpa are shared with the Pandit performing your puja. This data is used solely for ritual purposes.
  • Hosting infrastructure — our servers are hosted on Hostinger in data centres that comply with applicable security standards. Server logs may contain your IP address.

4. Data Retention

We retain booking records for a minimum of 7 years to comply with Indian GST and accounting laws. Account data is retained until you delete your account. You may request deletion of non-legally-required data by emailing us at info@kashitirthpuja.com.

5. Cookies

We use the following cookies:

  • ktp_currency — stores your selected display currency (INR/USD/EUR). Expires in 90 days. Not linked to your identity.
  • WordPress session cookies (wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_*) — required for the logged-in account area. Session cookies expire when you close your browser; persistent cookies expire in 14 days.

We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

6. Your Rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act 2023 and applicable Indian law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Request erasure of data not required by law to be retained
  • Withdraw consent for communications
  • Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India

Our website uses HTTPS/TLS for all data in transit. Booking data is stored in our WordPress database on a secured server. Passwords are hashed using WordPress standards (bcrypt). We never store full payment card numbers.

8. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted data, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of our services after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
